On January 11th, 2008 Hillary Clinton made dismissive comments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and instead gave acknowledgement to former President L. Johnson for the Civil Rights Act. She stated, “Dr King’s dream began to be realized when President Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It took a president to get it done.” This remark not only evoked discredit to the movement lead by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but also proposed a racial supremacy that allowed the movement to be completed. Former President Bill Clinton also made a remark that illustrated Obama’s campaign and pursuit of presidency as a “fairytale,” which disturbed many citizens. The Clintons have tried to “clarify” and justify their words, but the damage has already been made to the opinion of the minorities across America.
